Happy Un-Birthday

Carter found a packet of candles and really really wanted to have a birthday so she could blow them out. Well, her birthday is a long ways away so we decided to have an un-birthday party. To her it was all semantics as all she really cared about was getting to blow out candles on a cake. So last night, she and Robert made a chocolate cake. I gave them a crazy cake recipe where you mix all the ingredients in the pan, figuring that Carter would have fun helping to mix it up. I was working on bookkeeping and could hear cussing, laughing and tears and really couldn't tell you who was doing what.

Carter stuck in the candles after I convinced her not to stick them all in one spot. The cake was almost too warm and the bottom of the candles melted, but trying to get Carter to wait any longer was a lost cause. She sang the birthday song and blew out the candles. She was one happy girl. She didn't even really want to eat the cake although she did try to get me to just give her a bowl of Cool-Whip. She wanted to make another cake today but I figure even un-birthdays should be somewhat special and maybe try to keep them down to once a month! The video is cute although it would have been better if you couldn't hear Chase in the background.

Sweet

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but Carter always looks so darn sweet when she is napping. It is pretty rare anymore, and I instantly decided that she had the right idea...Chase and I promptly took one ourselves. It made for a great Saturday!

Toes!

Chase has finally discovered that he has toes and is trying really hard to get them in his mouth. I think he's about got it! He only plays with his toes when them are uncovered. Once you put socks on or clothes, he doesn't bother them at all.
I wish I was still that flexible...Although chewing on my toes isn't really a goal that I have. Anymore at least.

Like brother like sister! The bottom picture is of Carter at about the same age when she discovered her toes too!

Whip Cream

Yummy! I had Vashti and Blake over to play with Carter after school and I made a Cream Puff Cake for dessert. I made WAY too much whip cream and Carter was more than happy to help out.
Sometimes it's good to be a kid!

Siblings

The top three picture are Carter at the same age as Chase and the bottom three are my little boy. They sure look a lot alike.

Crash

Carter showing off her war wounds. She was playing in the back off Roberts truck while he was saddling up his horse. She somehow managed to fall out the back face first, split her forehead open, smashed her nose, and scratched up her face. Scared her more than it hurt her, but not as scared as her parents were! Robert got her cleaned up and was able to use tape sutures to close the gash on her forehead. She kept telling us she didn't want her face to split open. She laid on the couch for about an hour and then was back to her old self much to our relief.

Mirrors

Chase was checking himself out in the mirror on this baby toy and trying to talk to the baby in the mirror. My camera wasn't fast enough to catch all the smiles.

Getting hugs

I really like this picture of Chase with his Grampa. I think Aunty Linda sent these pictures over. His eyes look pretty blue still in these pictures, but they are slowly changing to brown I think. Chase is mostly pretty happy as long as someone is holding him...unlike his sister at this age.

Avery loves giving out hugs and it's so cute. However you have to keep a pretty close watch on her because she really wants to poke Chase's eyes too!

If you look close, Chase is really trying to get that toy in his mouth and Avery keeps it just out of reach.

Littlest cousins

The three littlest cousins...to look at you wouldn't guess that Avery was the oldest of the group.

Trying to get all three rounded up, happy and looking at the cameras required some effort.

Everett is only 2 months older than Chase but you wouldn't guess it looking at him. Chase is pretty good sized for his age, but he's got some growing to do to catch up to his cousin. I imagine these two will have lots of fun tearing around here in a few more years. It's especially nice since Everett lives within walking distance...once they start walking anyway.

Avery's Birthday!

My sister's little girl Avery turned one in February so naturally we all had to come over for cake and ice cream. She looked pretty darn cute with her little pig tail on top, although she seems less than impressed with getting ANOTHER picture taken.

Avery wasn't too sure about blowing out the candle on her cake so Carter to the rescue! Carter was more than happy to come over, and blow out the candle. I loved that she had to sing the happy birthday song again before blowing out the candle.

A whole living room full of little kids having a ball with the balloons...which was all well and good until Dad had to show them how to make them squeal, then it got old fast. However the kids all had a high time.

Me and my sister with our babies...and Gramma Betty too!

Beans for Dinner

Carter can be tricky to get in front of a camera. She hides or tries to take the camera from you so that she can take pictures. She had decided that she wanted green beans for dinner and nothing else would do. In fact she ate the whole can all by herself. She snuggled up next to me on the couch later and told me that I was a good mom. I told her thank you and that I though she was a pretty good little girl. She looked up at me and smiled. "Yes, I am" she said. Well, as good as can be expected for one little wild girl.

Carter taking pictures...

I just really liked this one that Carter got of her dad...he doesn't pose the same way for me!
