March Updates

Chase's bottom teeth came in around the first of the month and now he is busy working on learning to crawl. He is getting better at going backwards and occasionally moves forward a bit. He can get up on all fours and it looks kinda like he's getting revved up to go...somewhere, just hasn't quite got all the mechanics involved in order just yet. I'm not ready for him to crawl yet, although I'm getting closer. The fireplace really makes me nervous, along with some of Carter's toys, etc. But, ready or not, it's coming soon! Chase is also very much fascinated by Hadley our little dog. He always makes these funny noises when ever he sees her and would just love to get a hold of her. Luckily Hadley is smarter than that.

Chase has also discovered the arts of grabbing at stuff and can be fairly dangerous now if I'm not paying attention. I walked into the pantry carrying him, looking for something. He promptly got a hold of a bottle of soy sauce and knocked it on the floor. The bottle shattered and my pantry still reeks of soy sauce.
Carter got another great box of clothes and goodies from Robert's mom and her favorite item (along with a really girly lacy pink top) was this pink hat. She really wanted me to get a picture of her it. Not sure why the paper in her hand was also very important, but it was!

I can't believe how fast she is growing up. She is so dang funny when she isn't driving you completely stark raving mad. (She is very good at this) She was tearing around the house and plopped down next to me with with a "Mom, I'm just so full of energy!" I wish she could share.

Joe's Wedding Part 2

Cade and Avery all dressed up for the wedding looking pretty darn cute. I really loved that outfit Avery was wearing when Carter had it and wore it to my brother's wedding. Both kids still nice and clean before Carter shows them how to dig for worms in the mud. Ya, she brought me home a whole cup full of them, then cried the next morning when they had dried out and died.

The kids had a big time playing on the dirt hill next to the building where the wedding was hosted. Mean mom made them come down and go inside. Part of the hill was just a dirt slide and that was ok, but when they started climbing up the hill it was too much for my imagination. I could just see some one tripping and rolling down, into the road, etc. I begged, pleaded, threatened all morning getting Carter clean, dressed up, hair curled so that she could go to the wedding and promptly play in the dirt. Sigh.

Joe's Wedding

A good friend of the family got married in March and the kids sure had a great time at the wedding. It was a long day for me and Chase as I had a friend's bridal shower to attend first then raced back to the wedding. We didn't get tot stay very long as Chase had had enough and was more than ready to go home!
Carter didn't waste any time getting in line for cake.
Carter loved going out to dance with Grampa. Note the red boots that she was very proud of--that are about 2 sizes too big!
Carter dancing with Grampa...pictures courtesty of my Aunty Linda who also took the next two pictures of Grampa with Chase and one of Chase and I.

You can see he's getting pretty sleepy but not yet really grumpy...yet.

Easter Bags...a bit early

Robert ended up with a whole pile of candy left over from the Home Show. Short of just out and out throwing it away, I thought maybe we could gift some of it out. Ok, so no one else around here really wants any extra candy running around their houses either, but the thrifty side of me just couldn't dump it all out. I thought little Easter bags that Carter could decorate would be just the ticket.

Robert picked up all kinds of supplies for me in town and then I made Carter wait until Riley Jo came over to play to actually decorate the bags. Carter was sure that I was torturing her by making her wait, but she sure had fun once Riley showed up. Carter hadn't seen Riley in awhile and was so excited to have her come over and play that decorating the bags was just icing on the cake. The cowgirl foam stickers were a big hit!

Mud Puddle Fishing

After her mean mom insisted on her going outside in the gorgeous weather, Carter decided that she wanted to go fishing. So we dug out her pink Barbie fishing pole with a butterfly tether on the end. (Robert actually called me on his cell phone so that I would come out and take pictures). She looked pretty cute fishing in the mud puddles in our yard. Just wait until she gets to go fishing and actually catch something!

She was starting to get the casting part down pretty good. It wasn't very cold today but windy, so she was all bundled up, as mom insisted. She kept coming back in the house complaining that she was cold--while barefoot wearing only a t-shirt and pants. Sheesh!

I got a short video of her fishing with Dad's encouragement.

First go at squash...

We started Chase on food this month...well food that doesn't come from mom anyway. He hasn't been real impressed yet. I was able to smear a little on his thumb and get him to try it that way, although he kept pulling out his thumb as if trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Most of the food ends up everywhere but inside of him, which is pretty normal I suppose.

He's getting real grab happy now too...I have to be very careful when I'm carrying him or he'll swipe things off the counter and shelves with abandon. The latest casualty was a bottle of soy sauce that shattered all over the unfinished cement floor and covered the pantry walls. Nice. I'm also about ready to give up on my glasses and go back to contacts since the last time he got a hold of them he twisted the frame a bit. (A big deal when you are as blind as I am!) Right now he's tenaciously trying to get my zipper in his mouth while I type...everything goes in the mouth except actual food!

Sucking squash off of the bib was much more interesting than getting it from a spoon.

Construction Fairy

Carter loves dressing up in all the costumes and dress clothes that she got for Christmas. Who doesn't like to play dress up on occasion? I really liked this outfit with the construction hat and the fairy outfit with wings. Robert, with all his accidents and mishaps, sure could use a good luck fairy, although Carter is much more likely to be a destruction and mayhem construction fairy. Like father like daughter!

The Bathroom princess is pretty good too... although it would take a lot to convince me to use the toilet brush as a wand!

Carter and Pete

Carter is constantly dragging poor Pete in the house to torment, although he is finally starting to catch on and get much harder for her to catch. On cold windy days when we can't get outside to play, he is a pretty good diversion for her, and keeps her happily occupied for hours. She hasen't started dressing him up, although the dog has a couple times. It's just a matter of time Pete!

The Home Show

I tried really hard to get a nice picture of Robert and Carter with their matching logo shirts but they wouldn't cooperate...these were the best of them, and you can't really see the logo on Carter's shirt. Sigh. I'll have to just get them both to dress up later and try to get one...maybe.
The Home Show was packed with people and we didn't stay very long. I had Chase in my sister's stroller and trying to keep track of Carter in the crowd was a bit hectic even though Carter is generally really good about staying close.

Robert's booth. I was really sorry I didn't get a picture of the playhouse he built for Pro-Build. It was very fancy!

Painting Rocks

Carter picked up a little water paint deal at the MATE show that she was very excited to try out. She carted it around it every where with her until she naturally lost the paint brushes to her utter dismay. Mom to the rescue though with q-tips so we were able to spend an afternoon painting rocks in the sunshine.
