Thursday was my dad's birthday, so I had him and my sister's family over for dinner. I had put a small roast in the crock pot that morning with plans to have my sister over. My mom mentioned that she was going to be working late, so we thought it would be nice to have Dad over for birthday dinner. Hmmm, that roast started looking smaller and smaller. Then Robert called up and mentioned that a friend of his, Greg, was in town for the PBR since he had a couple bulls in the show, and Robert had invited him out for dinner. Arrg! I didn't have time to cook another roast or thaw anything else out, so I just started cooking. Carter, thanks I think in part to the nap on Wednesday was in a pretty cheerful mood and we managed to get a nice dinner complete with cake all cooked up and even spiff the house up. Carter was very proud of sitting at the "Big Kid" table with Cade. (So was mom! She normally insists on sitting on my lap for dinner when there is company)
Friday my sister came over to help watch Carter while I finished up a few things at work. It was so beautiful outside, so they spent as much time playing on the swings and trampoline as they could. I watched Avery a bit so that Christy could play outside too. What a reminder of things to come. I am sooo not ready for another little baby again. (Oh what have I done?) But I guess it doesn't really matter if I'm ready...Number 2 is on the way! I know once it shows up, everything will work out fine. One way or the other.
I found a great recipe for homemade play dough online and Carter and Cade had a great time playing with it. (So did mom and Aunty for that matter) Good thing it was made with all eatable (although not necessarily tasty with that half cup of salt) ingredients since Cade kept trying to eat it. Carter particularly liked making rocking horse cutouts and then played with them. One of the play dough rocking horses even bit her! Or so she was convinced... She also loaded up a handful and gave them a ride on the trampoline. I had nightmarish visions of pink play dough mashed into the trampoline everywhere, but surprisingly enough, she brought all rocking horses back in one piece. Well, except for the one who's head fell off. Carter was upset and I just had to fix it for her!
